Free Porn for Women

So as a New Years resolution, I’m creating this blog dedicated to porn-y type stuff that women might like. I’ve been running Porno4Women as a toplist for years. But I’d really like to explore the topic in another way. I sometimes find sites that are cool or interesting but not strictly speaking “for women”. I’m hoping the blog format may be a better forum to explore sexual expression for and by women on the net.

While we’re on the subject, I think I’ll go off on a mini-rant. I think “for women” is a problematic term that seems to assume one-size fits all women. As an adult webmaster, I think no such thing; and, as a woman, know for a certainty nothing could be further from the truth. But, the nature of mainstream porn, made it seem necessary to create some sort of niche that catered to a female perspective. Where so much sexual material marketed women as sluts, very little seemed to acknowledge that the women themselves could be consumers of adult material or have fantasies that were not totally satisfied by the “slut/bitches/ho” approach to porn.

So the “for women” niche attempted to gather adult material that was more sex-positive, showed women as more active participants in the sense of her getting her own needs met and not just satisfying someone else’s, and that featured appealing men. In some ways, I think the niche serves its purpose. It helps the industry as a whole understand that women are interested in adult content and that they appreciate material that takes their viewpoint into account. In other ways, the very existence of a niche becomes a limiting factor. And I believe the scope of women’s sexual fantasies ranges far beyond the limitations of the “for women” niche.

It’s a bit of a quandary. Without the niche, the mainstream adult world bundles much of the content women find interesting into generic hardcore and gay material where it can be lost to all but the most determined surfer. But with the niche, it seems all women like are softly lit missionary-position sex and beefcake shots.

So, in regards to the blog, my resolution is to try to loosen the definition of what is ‘for women” and find more sites that are arousing, interesting and/or erotic to myself and my audience. I’ll still keep an eye out for the hot couple sex and the hot naked men, of course!

I’ve been looking for a way of describing a genre of adult videos that I like. Men tend to categorize videos in ways that are...how can I put this..absolutely fucking useless!

Anyway, I noticed Libidia, a site I’m coming to like more and more, actually used this very apt phrase “Plot + Sex” to describe a bunch of videos that immediately caught my attention. When I search other sites, I’m always frustated at ways to get to the videos I actually want to see.

I dont care really if there’s a blowjob, a facial, a reverse cowgirl, or a double backflip into a full split right onto the guys cock. Whatever! Its how the people in the story got to this that or the other act that makes it interesting.

Without a plot, questions nag at me. Where did this guy come from? Is he delivering pizza? Perhaps a handyman fixing the pipes. Is he a boss, a neighbor, husband, lover, pimp, john. No matter how thin or spurious the plot, even a little goes a long way. And a good plot, engages my attention long enough for me to stop the silly questions and to let the sight of (hopefully) hot people having sex take effect. In other words, I need the plot, dammit!

So what would make me happy? To see more adult video outlets recognize that the other 50% of the population exists. Categorize adult video offerings in more female-friendly ways. Recognize that for some of us, sex is not about a particular act or a position, its a process and we want to enjoy it from beginning to end.
